How much do large rollup firms like Baker Tilly charge for ultra-complex 1040 returns compared to smaller AI-driven competitors?

29:07From the May 13 call · Launching the Group: PII, Custom Models, and Scripting vs LLMs

Participants noted that large rollup firms (Baker Tilly, Moss Adams, Anderson, etc.) charge significant fees for ultra-complex work, with some clients paying well into seven figures overall. One participant shared that at a previous firm, complex 1040s started at no less than $10,000, even for what they called 'baby 1040s' for children, and described one case where a whole team worked on a single client's 1040 costing about a quarter million dollars. The general view was that these firms' high fees are seen as commensurate with the complexity of the work and level of service their clients expect.
