How can I use Claude to automatically draft client financial review emails from monthly bookkeeping data?

14:37From the June 16 call · Workpaper Automation, 7216 Questions, and Claude for Bookkeeping

One workflow: a bookkeeper submits month-end data following a consistent file/folder protocol so Claude can locate it. Claude pulls the data (trial balance, bank statements, etc.), reviews it, flags what does and doesn't match or look reasonable compared to prior months, and drafts commentary. The user then adds specific observations (e.g., 'sales are up,' 'payroll is too high') which Claude incorporates into its own commentary. Claude is instructed to vary the language so it doesn't repeat the same phrasing every time, sound human, and avoid obvious AI-sounding phrasing ('claudisms'). It then drafts an email to the client, attaches the financials, and places the draft in Outlook for review before the user hits send. This was done entirely using the Claude add-in inside Excel (not the separate Claude website or desktop app) - Claude created a cover letter on a separate Excel sheet and generated the email from there, without requiring any coding.
