Inputs include: industry, revenue model, payment methods, client annual revenue, number of bank accounts, credit cards, lines of credit, third-party payment platforms (relevant because of merchant fees), whether payroll is in place, and how messy the books are. The "messy books" factor was calibrated using historical data from her bookkeeper (based in the Philippines) on how much extra time messy books have taken in the past. The tool also caps the fee as a percentage of revenue (targeting no more than 5%).
