Can Claude, connected via MCP to a bookkeeping platform like Double, automatically flag when a client has exceeded the transaction volume or scope included in their bookkeeping package?

One member asked whether Claude, through an MCP connection to Double, could monitor a client's actual transaction count against the package they were sold (e.g., 250 transactions/month) and flag when they've grown out of scope, to help avoid scope creep without manually reviewing every client each month. The response was that the data in Double would need to support answering that question directly (e.g., actual transaction counts), and it wasn't clear whether Claude can read the financial reporting data coming into Double versus just notes. One member shared a real example: they had Claude compare the baseline scope from their SOP against the bookkeepers' notes in the client file (rather than pulling transaction counts directly), and Claude identified two clients where scope had grown — one had added a couple of bank accounts and a loan, another had added payroll for two employees, a line of credit, and was about to add payroll for a third employee. Claude produced specific recommendations to increase fees effective a certain date, along with a client-facing message to send. The approach relies on bookkeeper notes as the input rather than pulling live transaction data from Double.
